Travelling

Writer's picture: Vania GuimaraesVania Guimaraes

This is an unusual type of travelling article. This time I’m going to be talking about the downside of going abroad. There’s not many negative points but a few that happen each and every time I am going somewhere that involves getting a plane.

1- Having problems with your desired way of transportation to the airport. A train or coach delayed or getting stuck in traffic can make you feel like your holiday is starting on the wrong foot. Not having full control of what's happening and fearing that you might miss your flight can definitely be one of the most annoying things that could happen to you (in my opinion). So planning different routes or starting your journey earlier can help to minimise future stress.

2- After doing your best to be at the airport at least 2hours before your flight, getting it delayed can’t just make you feel like an idiot. “So all of that struggle to still having to wait for my flight”. It’s hard to believe but it can happen. And this is one of the things you really can’t do anything about it. Suck it up

3- Be insured. Most of the people are hardly get any travelling insurance because we just think it’s pointless. Yes, there has been a time where I paid for it and nothing wrong happened during my time abroad but it’s always good to know that you are covered in case your luggage goes missing or you have to rush to the hospital for any reason. Travel insurance doesn’t have to be very expensive depending of the type of insurance you want. It can cost you as little as £5. It can be very handy when your flight gets delayed for more that 1:30hrs (I have been there and was devastated to know that I could claim any compensation for the simple reason that I don’t want to pay a small travel insurance fee)

4- Nothing more frustrating than having to deal with multiple miss behaved/crying kids on the plane. Your few hours of a peaceful and pleasant flight can get completely ruined and we always feel like sending someone else’s child to space (that sounds rude but that’s exactly how I feel). We can’t wait for that kid to have a nap so we can nap, watch a movie or read in peace. But one thing I don’t think anyone should do, is ask the parents to make their kids stop. I can only imagine how embarrassing and frustrated the parents are at that specific moment and having someone tell them such thing must drive them crazy. It would drive me crazy.
